Health & Safety Meeting Agenda

 December 9, 2010

1.)    Discuss business restructuring letter. - A letter will be sent out to customers explaining our situation and restructuring plan, along with a list of reasons to use our services, and an updated rate sheet for 2011.

2.)    Distribute Tools & Equipment Checklists. - Checklists must be returned by the end of the week, so we can proceed with repairs/replacements, as needed.

3.)    Distribute lists for employee issued items. - These forms must be completed and returned to the office.  This is our way of ensuring that every employee has been issued (and still has) all required Personal Protective Equipment to comply with our H&S Policies and Procedures.

4.)    Discuss maintaining focus on our four target markets, and sub-contracting work outside of our strengths. We will not engage in work outside of our trained expertise (i.e. trenching with machines), but instead we will pre-approve a few excavating contractors that we can sub-contract to do this work.  This extends to all other services for which we do not have trained & competent staff to perform safely.

5.)    Review updated Roles & Responsibilities Policy - This is aimed at reminding our Journeymen and Apprentices of their obligation to one another on the jobsite.  Journeymen are responsible to oversee and approve work done by apprentices.  Apprentices are responsible to ask for and take direction from a directing Journeyman, so the Journeyman can monitor work safety, code compliance, and quality.

6.)    Everyone must complete the WHMIS annual review test. (we will discuss results next meeting)

 Side Notes

1.)     Please make sure you keep copies of the Safety Forms in your trucks (or Job Boxes)… you can’t fill them out if you don’t have them.  Remember to hand them in to the office.
