1.) A Joint H&S Committee is required since we have over 20 staff now. We must have one person (elected by the workers) to represent the workers, and one person from management, who will both have to go through a 3 day training course to become “certified” to assume this role. Bob has the most formal training, so I feel it makes sense for him to continue in the role of the ‘management rep’. We need you to select a rep for the workers… I would suggest selecting someone whom you feel has a good handle on H&S rules and regulations, and has a sincere interest in the safety of themselves and others. The rest is up to you guys (vote now???).
It was decided that each person would call in their vote by Friday July 29th.
2.) Distribute Tools and Equipment Checklists
3.) Please check your service vehicles for items (and/or excess of items) that really should be put back in shop stock. Our actual shop stock is low on various items, but our system shows that we have them… somewhere.
4.) Responsibilities/expectations of staff members… better defined. As a team we all have our roles to fill in order to make the team effective. Effective, involves many aspects, but results in ultimate customer satisfaction. (It is very important for all of us to realize that if we don’t retain our customers we won’t be working). So, in order for us to be an effective team, we all need to have an interest in our work (so we are continually learning & bettering ourselves to serve the customer efficiently and effectively), be willing to assume responsibility, and then we can enjoy a sense of satisfaction for a job well done… and likely future work!
5.) New customer – Innophos. They are trialing our services starting immediately with emergency service, and offering us opportunity for upcoming projects.
Side Notes
The elected Worker Rep will need to be scheduled for a training course, in order to understand and fulfill their role (this is mandatory training based on OHSA).
